Bredenkamp to Head Renewable Fuels Association Government and Public Affairs Team

January 11, 2021

The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA), a leading national ethanol trade association, has announced that Troy Bredenkamp is joining the association as Senior Vice President for Government and Public Affairs. Bredenkamp, who currently serves as the Executive Director of Renewable Fuels Nebraska (RFN), will oversee both government relations and communications for the organization in the Washington D.C. office. He replaces Jessica Bennett, who is departing RFA after three years of service.

“We are excited to welcome Troy to the RFA team, and we know he will make an immediate mark on our advocacy and public affairs activities,” said RFA President and CEO Geoff Cooper. “Troy brings years of government relations and strategic communications experience to the association, and he has extensive knowledge on renewable fuels policy issues. He clearly shares our vision, passion, and commitment to expanding opportunities for U.S. ethanol producers.”

Bredenkamp, a native of York, Neb., took the helm at Renewable Fuels Nebraska in 2017 and has helped shape the association into one of the most respected and successful state-level biofuels groups in the nation. Prior to that, he served as General Manager of the Nebraska Rural Electric Association. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President of the Colorado Farm Bureau and Director of Congressional Relations for the American Farm Bureau Federation in Washington, D.C.

“This is bittersweet. Troy has put Renewable Fuels Nebraska on its best footing in our history and will leave behind big shoes to fill, but we look forward to working with him in Washington, D.C. where he will have the opportunity to further our cause at the federal level,” stated Tony Leiding, RFN Board President and President of Trenton Agri Products in Trenton, Neb.

The RFN Board of Directors will begin the search for Bredenkamp’s replacement immediately. With so many key issues facing the industry, Bredenkamp will continue to contribute and direct the organization until such time his services are not needed.

"The ethanol industry is a vital component of the American rural fabric, and it has been a pleasure working for such a great industry and members in my home state,” Bredenkamp said. “At the same time, many opportunities lie ahead for both the Nebraska and U.S. ethanol industries, and I look forward to working closely with RFA members, our industry partners, and the new administration and Congress to propel ethanol's important role far into the future.”
